Product Liability Attorneys in Dothan
Product liability is an area of personal injury law involving complex litigation over defective products. Because the injuries caused by defective products are often very serious, the law requires that manufacturers be held accountable for mistakes in the design of their products. You may be entitled to compensation if your product liability attorney can prove that your injuries were a direct result of a defect in the product. If so, you could receive compensation for medical bills, prescription costs, physical rehabilitation, lost wages, funeral expenses (if a wrongful death occurred), as well as pain and suffering.
There are basically three types of product defects.
A manufacturing defect is a flaw within the product which causes the product to fail. An example of a manufacturing defect might be faulty brakes on a new car, or a safety guard on a saw which malfunctions.
A design defect occurs when the product was manufactured properly, but it is defective in the way it was designed and/or engineered. For example, a perfectly manufactured silicone breast implant may rupture simply because the design of the implant was flawed. Another example might be an SUV being prone to rollovers, even though it came off the manufacturer’s assembly line exactly as the engineers designed it.
All dangerous products are required to have adequate warnings. If a manufacturer fails to provide adequate safety warnings, then they may be held responsible for any injuries and damages which might result.
